In 2006/07, over 1,200 New Zealanders died as the result of injury. That's 100 people each month, or around three each day. In fact, someone in New Zealand is injured every 17 seconds.
The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) received 1.8 million claims and paid $2.1 billion in total claims costs.

• For children aged 5-9, motor vehicle traffic crashes where the child is a pedestrian are the leading cause of injuries resulting in death
• For 10-19 year olds, motor vehicle traffic crashes, where the person is a motor vehicle occupant are the leading cause of injuries resulting in death.
• Motor vehicle traffic crashes are the second major cause of injuries resulting in death for people aged 20-84.
• Falls are the leading cause of injury resulting in hospitalisation throughout the lifespan, accounting for 40 percent of all injury hospitalisations.

As children get older they are at more risk, as they would then encounter the dangers of having to take a bus, a lift scheme, walk to or from school or ride there bicycle. Children are vulnerable from birth to age 14 as they have no form of identity on them. The average child only learns their telephone number and physical address at around the age of 5. When a child is in shock or trauma he/ she are less likely to remember important information. This product is a vital necessity for every child.
